When I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God until I declare your power to the next generation your might to all who are to come.
Psalm 71:18
About

R. V. Seep
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I recently retired from a legal career in the private and public sectors that spanned forty-seven years. I spent more than fourteen years with a private firm, writing and editing for a variety of publications involving Federal and State statutory and case law. A unexpected phone call one afternoon led to my accepting a position with the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the United States House of Representatives. The Office’s duties involve the publication of the United States Code, the subject matter breakdown of the Federal statutory law. I worked for the Office for almost thirty-three years, the last thirteen as the Law Revision Counsel. It was a privilege to make a small contribution to an endeavor that serves a vital role in the rule of law in this nation.
Alongside my professional career was my avocational one. I delight to open God’s Word for my fellow pilgrims in various settings and I have been blessed to do so for more than four decades. Along that journey, I acquired a seminary degree and developed voluminous notes that I have freely shared with my classes through the years. To standardize these notes and to broaden their availability to people who may be interested is my chief motivation for developing this website.
I hold degrees in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, in Law from Duke University, and in Exegetical Theology from Western Seminary in Portland Oregon. In addition to teaching, I have served in a variety of roles in local churches. My wife, Dottie, and I have two adult children and four grandchildren, and reside near Annapolis, Maryland.
I am on a lifelong journey of standing between two worlds, the biblical world in which the Word of God was revealed and the world of today in which the Word of God and its intelligent application illuminated by the Spirit is desperately needed. I suspect you share something of the same yearning and invite you from time to time to join me in my study and devotional musings. I hope your perusal of this site will enhance your spiritual journey.
